Messi’s current contract with Inter Miami was set to expire at the end of the 2025 MLS season. However, according to the latest announcement, the Argentine superstar has officially signed a three-year extension that keeps him with the American club until 2028 — when he will turn 41.
According to beIN SPORTS, this agreement goes far beyond a simple contract renewal. It represents a long-term strategic partnership. Messi will enjoy several off-field privileges, including the right to purchase shares in Inter Miami in the future, continued collaborations with Adidas and Apple, and the prestigious title of global brand ambassador for the club.

With this new deal, Messi is no longer just a player — he becomes the centerpiece of the ambitious project David Beckham and Inter Miami’s executives are building, blending football, commerce, and global branding into a unified long-term vision.
Although financial details have not been officially disclosed, U.S. media estimate Messi’s earnings under the new contract to match or exceed his current income — already the highest in MLS. According to the MLS Players Association, Messi currently earns $12 million in base salary and $20.4 million in guaranteed annual compensation, about $5 million more than second-placed Lorenzo Insigne of Toronto FC.

Sportico reports that Messi’s initial two-and-a-half-year deal with Inter Miami was worth around $150 million in total, including sponsorships and ambassador roles. Forbes adds that in 2024 alone, Messi earned an additional $79 million from endorsements with Adidas, Hard Rock International, and Apple TV — the latter providing him with a share of revenue from MLS’s $250 million annual broadcasting package.
In recent interviews, Messi has repeatedly said that he is content with life and football in the United States. For Inter Miami, keeping Messi is a top priority — not only because of his impact on the pitch but also for the immense commercial and branding value he brings.
If nothing changes, Messi is expected to end his legendary career at Inter Miami — not just as a football icon, but as the cornerstone of a new golden era for American soccer.
