Striker Karim Benzema has spoken out to dismiss rumors of a tense relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo in the Saudi Pro League. Although the two interact less frequently on camera, Benzema confirmed they still communicate comfortably and respect each other in the locker room, emphasizing that moving to Saudi Arabia is also an opportunity to develop football in the region.
Karim Benzema has shared candid insights about his relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia, where both are currently playing after leaving Europe. After Ronaldo moved from Manchester United to Al-Nassr in 2023, Benzema joined Al-Ittihad shortly after winning the Ballon d’Or, bringing his experience from Real Madrid and international titles.

Recently, several images showed Benzema and Ronaldo rarely interacting on camera, leading to speculation about their relationship. However, Benzema told AS that there is no rift between them: “No, don’t misunderstand. We still talk normally in the locker room, hug, and communicate comfortably. On the field, we can’t replicate that, but we respect each other, and that’s enough. There’s no need to perform for the cameras.”
Benzema also emphasized that their decisions to move to Saudi Arabia were motivated not only by personal reasons but also by the growth of regional football: “Saudi Arabia needs players like Cristiano, like me, to pass on European experience to local players. The country is opening up, and I feel very happy here.”
Since joining Al-Ittihad, the French striker has achieved significant success. He played a key role in helping the team win the Saudi Pro League and King’s Cup in the 2024/25 season, scoring 46 goals in 75 matches across all competitions. This record demonstrates that Benzema continues to perform at a top level despite being 37 years old.

Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr is still striving to win his first major trophy with the club. Despite impressive performances, Ronaldo has yet to secure a major title, including Al-Nassr’s elimination in the Round of 16 of the King’s Cup this season.
The continued success of both European stars in Saudi Arabia not only raises the profile of the league but also inspires young players in the region, contributing to the development and international recognition of the Saudi Pro League.
