Rashford Shines at Camp Nou but His Future Remains Unclear

Arriving at Barcelona on loan, Rashford quickly adapted and rediscovered his best form. He has scored 6 goals and provided 7 assists in 16 matches across all competitions, becoming one of the club’s most effective attacking options.
Barcelona holds a €30 million buyout option for Rashford — a bargain considering his resurgence. However, the Camp Nou board has yet to make a final decision.
Why Barcelona Is Hesitant Despite Rashford’s Strong Form
Barcelona’s hesitation stems from several factors.
During Rashford’s breakout period, Raphinha was sidelined with a long-term injury. Now that the Brazilian star has returned, manager Hansi Flick has yet to determine what role Rashford would play within a tactical setup that has been stable since the start of the season.
Additionally, Barcelona wants to allocate most of its budget to signing a new striker to replace Robert Lewandowski in the summer of 2026. Their top priority is Julian Alvarez, currently playing for Atletico Madrid.
Activating Rashford’s buyout clause could drain Barcelona’s transfer funds, forcing the club to think very carefully.
Rashford’s Representatives Meet Chelsea and Tottenham

With his long-term future in doubt, Rashford’s camp has met with both Chelsea and Tottenham to discuss a possible move after the 2025/26 season.
Chelsea is said to be particularly interested as the club seeks more pace and creativity on the wings. Tottenham, under Ange Postecoglou, is also monitoring the situation while looking to add a versatile attacking player.
Even so, Rashford’s top priority remains staying at Barcelona — where he feels trusted and has rediscovered his spark. However, if the club does not move forward with a long-term deal, the English forward will have no choice but to consider other options.
Manchester United No Longer Intends to Keep Rashford

According to The Athletic, MU manager Ruben Amorim has clearly informed the board that Rashford is not part of his long-term plans. Even with the forward’s improvement at Barcelona, this stance has not changed.
United reportedly hopes Barcelona will pass on the buyout option, giving them the chance to sell Rashford for a higher fee to Premier League clubs such as Chelsea or Tottenham, instead of accepting the agreed €30 million.
A Decision Looms
Rashford may be performing brilliantly at Camp Nou, but that does not guarantee his future will be settled there.
Barcelona still has many factors to consider. Manchester United has no desire to keep him. Chelsea and Tottenham are waiting for signals.
Rashford’s future could be decided soon — and it may well unfold far away from Old Trafford.
